MONG MI

With the Mong Mi Collection, Thuy Design House wanted to capture the enchantment of a traditional ceremony called Dao Mau, an ancient non-Buddhist religion in Vietnam. In celebration of a figure known as ‘Mother Goddess,’ people participated in elaborate dances and vocal performances. The sophisticated methods of tailoring for the costumes of Dao Mau and its accessories were the major inspiration for the following collection. ‘Mong Mi’ translates into English as a ‘foggy dreamland’ as such. The detail of this collection is truly enthralling in its multifacetedness as a grand variety of threading and sewing techniques was used on a variety of materials and textiles, most notably organza and satin silk. This time around, an extra emphasis was put on the accessories that could easily serve as stand-alone pieces.
